Protesters Falls

Well today we decided to go and find a waterfall
(one that wasn't on private land!)
It was a long ish and rather bumpy ride
(and Henry didn't overheat this time)

The waterfall was in an amazing part of the rain forest.
Laura looked even smaller than usual :)

The waterfall was named Protesters Falls
after the protesters that stood up against logging in the local area in 1979
and so in 1983, it was declared part of the Nightcap National Park

Today was a dry day and so there wasn't alot of water coming over the cliff
On a day after lots of rain the whole rock face has a curtain of water across it

It was a beautiful day
had in beautiful surroundings
well worth the trip!

First necessary repair

Yeap it was time to put Henry under surgery.
After he got the very dangerous water-deficient-fever
we had to replace one of his cooling veins.

Fortunately our neighbor was a doctor and had some extra veins left.
So we just needed to adjust it a bit and....

tatatataaa good old Henry was ready to go again.

New Surfboard

After trying to paddle in overhead-barreling waves with my 6.0
,which ended mostly with some of the painfullest take-off wipe-outs i ever had,
i decided to get a real surfboard for real waves.

6.4x19.1/4x2.1/2 with a round tail
 is the consequence of it

And that's the reason
Lennox last week
Looks small but trust me it isn't

Nimbin the hippy central

We decided to take a trip a little inland to see some more sights
Our destination ... Nimbin
Bellow is a picture of Nimbin rocks
that poke out from a mass of trees

Nimbin lies in a valley where in 1973 the Aquarius festival was held
After the event a few hard core hippys decided to buy some land
This was the first stage of Nimbin becoming the Hippy center

Its a really colorful town
with every other person saying Hi
and then asking if you would like to buy some weed!
We didnt even make it out of the car park without being asked

Even the local transport is plastered with rainbow colors
The Happy Coach

The town was not shy about advertising the local produce
(Marijuana is still illegal in Australia)
It was an interesting experience
an insight in to what it was like in the 70's

Sun Sea Sand and Kids = Fun

Today we went to Byron Bay Main beach with the Kids of our hosts
it was a beautiful day, so we took a few snacks
packed everyone in the car and we were off!

We spent hours making sand castles and burying each other!
we tried to make Hannes in to a mermaid but he looked more like a fat fish...
all this playing in the sand left it everywhere! even in our ears :)

For lunch we had gourmet fish and chips! that were lovely I must say,
Followed by more playing, and then a huge ice cream
we had a fab day full of laughter and food
we even found a lost elephant, sun bathing!

Morning Glory

O YEAH
it was time to set the alarm for an early morning call

Not just to see the Twilight
and racing down the empty streets

NO
it was to surf the first solid winter swell since we were in Australia
and it was well worth it
Good over head waves and long walls
for a fun 300 meter race

All day long

Rain Forest

On Saturday we went out for a drive
through the rain forest of Willsons creek

It has been raining the last few days, so there were many waterfalls
and they filled the air with the sound of running water
which was very relaxing

Copper Creek

The road followed the creek winding this way and that
